This award-winning contemporary renovation brings new life and light into an old Californian bungalow home.

The roofline of the extension connects with the original height of the bungalow then rises skywards to draw in the light. This has allowed a series of high-level windows to be installed, bringing sunlight into the new living spaces and creating a sense of volume and spaciousness. A large external timber cavity sliding door provides seamless access between the living rooms and pool area.

This home was designed by Cast Studio Architects and built by Burgio Constructions.

Cedar West provided the new timber windows and doors for this project, including:

• Andover door in kitchen
• External cavity sliding door (over 3.5m long)
• Louvre windows
• Fixed windows
• External timber feature screen (study window)

 The new timber joinery has been double-glazed to improve thermal performance and maximise the energy-efficiency of the home.
