Woollahra Residence

This grand, two-storey home is located in the beautiful hillside suburb of Woollahra in Sydney. 

Stunning, curve-topped doors and windows are featured throughout the ground floor, including a palatial curved entry door with custom raised panels and large bolection mouldings. The curved doors have been designed with deep reveals and matching custom timber architraves. "Aged brass" hardware has been used to complement the joinery. 

A number of innovations have been incorporated into this project, for example: 

1. The sash windows feature Cedar West's unique tilt-and-remove design, which provides easy access to open and close the external shutters. The design also makes it possible to clean both sides of the window without having to go outside (very useful on the second floor). 

2. Integrated drop-down seals have been fitted to the curve-top doors to enable a smooth transition to the outdoors. 

3. The beautiful glass panel doors used to separate the internal living spaces have been mounted onto an exclusive stacking cavity sliding system, which hides the doors inside the walls when the owners want to connect the two areas. 

Prefitted & Ready to Install

The joinery for this project was prefitted in our factory, with the windows hung in their frames, hardware installed and external shutters fitted. The large curve-topped doors were also hung in their custom frames, precision fitted for hardware and primed with an undercoat of paint. This made it much easier for the builder to install the custom joinery once it arrived on site. 

This home was designed by Carla Middleton Architecture and constructed by M&G Building, with timber joinery supplied by Cedar West.
