Mid-Century Inspired Home

This impressive mid-century inspired home is situated on a tiny 196m² battle-axe site.

The design for the three-storey home received a Commendation in the new house category of the WA Architecture Awards. The architects, Klopper & Davis, said “This home proves that a generous, contemporary residence can be achieved on a small inner-city block for a modest budget. The built form and materiality take cues from the urban setting and context. Red face brick and painted white brick draw reference from established masonry homes and are given a touch of the mid-century modern KADA are renowned for, via the introduction of breeze walls and brick patterns."

Timber features prominently in the home, with beautiful Grandstyle timber cladding wrapping around the front façade. An Aston entry door leads directly into the living area, with high-level, custom curved timber windows bringing light into the space. Floor-to-ceiling timber windows and large-scale timber sliding doors also bring winter sunshine into the dining area, with timber louvre windows for cross-ventilation.
