Urban Beach House

This contemporary residence by Humphrey Homes is within walking distance of the ocean, and its architecture and interiors have been designed to bring the beach indoors.

Timber is used extensively on the front facade. The garage is clad with slim, 40x40mm timber battens (supplied by Cedar West), which perfectly match the Flutestyle SS40 lining used on the second storey of the building. The Flutestyle is used as a screen in front of the bathroom windows, to provide privacy while allowing light and fresh air to enter the room.

The front entry door is a contemporary Aston design, with a sidelite that wraps around the side of the building. 

A timber window box with a modern louvre window creates a beautiful focal point at the front of the home (cedar window box custom-made by Cedar West). 

Inside the residence, a pair of Richmond doors lead to a concealed cellar, adding an air of mystery to the home. The 3D profile of the timber on the Richmond doors echoes the shape of the hit-and-miss battens on the external timber. 

As stated by the architect Helen Machesani, "This home is a private oasis, a coastal retreat that speaks to both its location and how its owner likes to live".
